A unique institution assures lifelong rehabilitation ensuring parental care for mentally disabled persons all over kerala disregarding their wealth, caste, creed or religion. It is established by the "Association of parents of the retarded" at Aliyadu near Venjarammoodu in Thiruvananthapuram District.

The life of mentally disabled people after the death of their parents becomeS OF s very miserable due to the negligence/ financial stringency/ serious illness etc. Instances of sexual exploitation inside family are not scarce. Usually the inherited property available for their livelihood is always exploited/ mismanaged and often these human beings are deserted. Considering all these aspects some parents joined together and formed this "All Kerala association of Parents of the Retarded" for facilitating better living for their disabled wards and registered the association under the societies Registration act 1955.
